He said they're "accurate but not flattering".  I think he looks cute...

Dan Meyer on math education

I watched this talk last year and instantly got absorbed into what he was saying about match education and the problems with it.  I love this talk.

http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/dan_meyer_math_curriculum_makeover.html

I finally emailed him today to thank him for this talk and he teaching work.  It really inspires me to get moving on the educational comic idea I've been brewing, but I don't know where to start!!

APE and inspiration

I went to the Alternative Press Expo of 2010 and it was great!  So many talented artists this year!

I got 2 prints.  One called "Cat Tetris" (I forget the artist, but I'll find his name) and another by Britney Lee.
I really love all of Britney's stuff, but Michael said this one reminded him of me, so I had to have it.  I find her work really inspiring (see more at her blog and her etsy site).  I would love to progress to her level with the way she uses colors, shapes and the way she tells stories using one single frames in time.

This was a comic done with Hoyt as the hero, Super Tango Fighter!!  This was done almost 2 years ago as a present and I've been meaning to continue it.

SF zine fest

Who's up for SF zine fest!?? Sept 4-5 (weekend).

http://www.sfzinefest.com/about.html

What's at Zine Fest, you ask?  The DIY (Do-it-yourself) side of comics, arts and crafts, literary presses, and more (at least that's what I gathered from the website).  I haven't been before, but I expect it will be similar to APE (Alternative Press Expo), which was a lot of fun :)

If I don't have to work on Saturday, I'll go then, otherwise, Sunday.

cute little online sketch app

It has some fun brushes and cool effects.  It's fun to try out even if you don't have a tablet.

Some artist blogs for inspiration

http://francisvallejo.blogspot.com/
Has a video on inking techniques and some really nice gesture drawings.

http://josh-kao.blogspot.com/
Pretty cool sci-fi concept art.

http://nathanfowkes.blogspot.com/
Concept art and locational drawings.  Great drawings of rocky areas.

http://librabear.blogspot.com/
Love his character sketches.

Eu Care logo (in progress)

I've been meaning to get a finalized version of the Eu Care logo.  Instead of trying to work in vector format from the start, I'm going back to what I do better, which is building up an image in raster format and then I'll simplify it to a decent vector version.  It's still in progress, but I'm a lot happier with the colors and the general feel of it.

Hmmm... colors look a little off.  I may have to do some color correction later.

inspiration for plushies

http://monsterfactory.net/monsters

I just added a new project under "sewing" and it's to make my own plushies.  Monster Factory has some cute, quirky and fun designs and totally great for inspiration.
