2013 in Review and 2014 Goals

Happy New Year!  It's been a pretty good year for projects, learning and growing.

2013 was the year of the Cardboard Moroccan Cat Palace, the completion of the Prairie Rabbits pitch, of lots of thumbnailing (still have to finish one full episode of Avatar the Last Airbender!  please don't let this take a whole year!), of color studies, of really sinking my teeth into Project Apricot, of learning google app engine, and much more.  As a whole I feel like I'm getting closer to the vision of what I want to do with Project Apricot and Panataria.

2013 was a rough year, health wise, for Michael, but we also found a new rhythm to life and recovery.  It's been the year of wontons, ginger, and blandwiches and getting back to the gym.  Here's to good health in 2014.

It's also been the year of house-hunting.  May 2014 be the year we find the home for us.

Here are some plans for 2014.
  • Panataria
  • Project Apricot
  • House hunting
  • Trip to China
  • Turning Prairie Rabbits into a series of shorts

2011 in Review

With the New Year, it's time to review the projects I had on my list for this year and check the progress I have or have not made.

Projects:
1. Eu Care - oyy, I've been abysmal at this in 2011.  I've completely neglected this after the big burst of activity at the end of 2010.  I've been buried in work and really need to pick this up again.
2. Comics (with working titles) - suddenly very energized about this.  I anticipate pouring time into it this year.
3. Screenplay/Storyboard - It's hard to imagine that it's been a full year and I haven't really touched this.  It was originally my goal to submit this for a pitch last year.  Well, let's make that the goal for this year.
4. Programming - have not done much, but have decided on Ruby as the language to learn.
5. Facebook Apps - nope
6. Personal Web Site - :( nope, another year of paying to sit on my domain...
7. Sewing - have not been sewing aprons this year, but have done a few sewing projects for friends
8. Give Matt hair - no activity recently
9. Wall art - no progress
10. Giclee printing - got printer recommendations from Emma.  may buy one this year (Canon Pixma 9000, Epson stylus pro 3880)
11.  Macarons  - It has been the project of the year.  Michael and I have both pretty much mastered it, but can still use some refinement and some experimentation with flavors.
12.  (new)  Wings! - Michael and I want to experiment with making good wings since there really aren't any good wing places nearby (except for Hot Sauce and Panko in the city).  We're trying to pair them with some interesting sides too.

year in review and the year to come

Yay!  It's a new year and a good time to review my existing project list, add new projects and check some off.

Projects:
1. Eu Care - doing good :)  We made great progress this year and here's to even more effectiveness in 2011!
2. Comics (with working titles) - didn't get very far, but still dreaming
3. Screenplay/Storyboard - have most of my plotting done.  will make a concerted effort to finish it this year and submit the pitch :)  Shawn offered to give feedback, so I'm excited for how the constructive critique will help refine it.
4. Programming - didn't get very far
5. Facebook Apps - nope
6. Personal Web Site - :( nope, another year of paying to sit on my domain...
7. Sewing - fell off on aprons, but I want to get back into it.  at least to use up all the adorable fabrics I got.
8. Give Matt hair - started :)  and will continue
9. Wall art - didn't get very far
10. Giclee printing - found the printer I want, but still haven't gotten it yet.
11.  (new) macarons!  - that's gonna be the new hotness this year.  I'm planning to master these little treats.  And I had a bright idea!  Two words: Totoro macarons!
